Anxiety & Depression Counseling

Anxiety and depression can look very different from one person to another. Some people feel constantly worried and keyed up. Others feel exhausted, disconnected, unmotivated, or stuck. Many experience both at the same time.

Anxiety may show up as overthinking, panic, perfectionism, reassurance seeking, physical tension, avoidance, poor sleep, or difficulty shutting the mind off. Depression may show up as low energy, loss of interest, isolation, irritability, hopelessness, guilt, or feeling like even simple tasks take too much effort.

Counseling focuses on identifying the patterns that keep symptoms going and building practical ways to respond differently. That may include changing avoidance patterns, challenging unhelpful thinking, improving routines, strengthening emotional regulation, addressing unresolved stressors, and reconnecting with meaningful activities and relationships.

The work should be specific to what is actually happening in your life rather than reducing everything to a symptom checklist.

When worry or low mood is affecting daily life

You might be looking for counseling because worry is taking up more of your attention, your mood has changed, or everyday tasks feel harder to manage. Some people arrive with a clear concern; others simply know that something has been off. A first session can begin with what you have noticed and what you would like to be different.

Individual counseling gives us time to explore how your concerns connect with routines, relationships, responsibilities, and major changes in your life. My approach is direct, practical, and collaborative. We can identify goals together and review what has or has not helped in the past.

A practical, collaborative process

The work may include discussing patterns in thoughts and behavior, trying coping strategies, and considering changes that support your daily functioning. We will review the direction of therapy as we go. Your values, circumstances, and pace matter; counseling is not a promise of a particular result or a fixed number of sessions.

I provide individual online counseling for adults located in Texas. Sessions are typically 60 minutes. Headway provides current availability, accepted-insurance information, and cost estimates. Review those details before requesting an appointment, and use Contact for a brief general question without sensitive health information.

If worry, avoidance, or tension is interfering with everyday life, adult individual counseling offers a place to discuss those patterns and your goals. View availability on Headway for virtual appointments, insurance information, and cost estimates, or read what to expect when starting therapy.
