Grief & Life Transitions Counseling
Updated: Oct 6
Loss is not limited to death. Grief can follow the end of a relationship, retirement, a major move, loss of health, a change in family structure, a career transition, or the loss of a role that once gave life meaning.
Grief can affect sleep, concentration, patience, motivation, memory, relationships, and the way a person sees the future. Some days may feel manageable while others feel unexpectedly difficult.
Counseling provides a place to make sense of the loss without being pressured to move on or follow someone else's timeline. The work may include processing emotions, adjusting to changed roles, rebuilding routines, addressing guilt or unfinished business, and finding ways to stay connected to what mattered while still moving forward.
Life transitions can also raise questions about identity and purpose. Therapy can help clarify what is changing, what remains important, and what the next chapter needs to look like.
Support for loss and major change
Grief and transition can touch many parts of life. You may be adjusting after a death, the end of a relationship, a change in family roles, or a shift in work or identity. You do not have to decide whether your experience is serious enough before asking about counseling.
We can start with what the change means to you and how it is affecting your routines, relationships, and expectations for the future. You can share at a pace that feels manageable. My role is to work with you on goals that fit your circumstances, while making room for the emotions and questions that come with change.
Making room for grief while supporting daily life
Counseling can include talking through competing responsibilities, considering practical support, and identifying ways to care for yourself between sessions. We can also discuss patterns such as withdrawal, difficulty concentrating, or feeling caught between what you used to expect and what life looks like now. There is no single timetable or required way to describe your experience.
Individual sessions are virtual for adults located in Texas and are typically 60 minutes. Use Headway to review current availability, accepted insurance, and cost estimates. The first appointment gives you space to ask questions and consider whether working together is a good fit.
For adults seeking support with loss or a changing role, counseling can make space for the concerns that matter to you. View availability on Headway for virtual appointments, insurance information, and cost estimates, or read what to expect when starting therapy.
